NCRIS funding for Microscopy Australia

The Department of Education awarded Microscopy Australia $12 million in NCRIS funding over the next four years.

This funding comes as a result of our application to the 2023 funding call and is in addition to the $22 million already awarded from the 2022 funding round that supports our business-as-usual operations. The funding announced today maintains the level of NCRIS capital investment that Microscopy Australia has received over the last five years. This means that we will be able to ensure access to cutting-edge advanced microscopes and, in combination with the 2022 funding, allows us to maintain current capabilities and expertise to support Australian research excellence.

This investment will ensure we can continue to contribute to the national research infrastructure eco-system, and we look forward to supporting national priorities such as synthetic biology, critical minerals, medical advances, and clean energy technologies. We will continue to develop future investment plans over the next four years, which would enable Microscopy Australia to enhance our essential, underpinning research infrastructure. We look forward to making the most of any such opportunities.
