Policies

These policies guide our organisation and decision making processes.

Open Access Policy

Microscopy Australia has an open access policy, ensuring access to instruments is based on merit, not institution.

Our open access policy ensures access for all Australian researchers to federally-funded (NCRIS) instruments that in the past would only have been available to researchers based at the instrument’s host institution. All Microscopy Australia facilities have agreed to make not just NCRIS-funded instruments, but all of their microscopy and microanalytical tools available under this policy.

For more detail please download our Open Access Policy (PDF).

Research Data Management Guidelines

Microscopy Australia is committed to helping our users and facilities to better manage their data.

Microscopy Australia promotes ongoing access to research data following the FAIR principles as a way to maximise the value and impact of research and research data. These guidelines apply to all research data, irrespective of format, size, origin and funding source.

These guidelines are complementary to and do not replace existing policies, procedures, provisions or guidelines on research data and their management at institutions hosting Microscopy Australia facilities and the organisations of our researchers, from academia and industry. We also have a data management policy framework that works in tandem with the data management guidelines.
