Applications now open for Microscopy Australia Access Scheme 2026

Australian researchers and industry can now apply for support through the new Microscopy Australia Access Scheme, a national initiative designed to improve access to advanced microscopy and microanalysis facilities, instrumentation and expertise.

Supported by the Australian Government through the National Collaborative Research Infrastructure Strategy (NCRIS), the scheme provides up to $20,000 in matching funds to help researchers and industry users access specialised microscopy and microanalysis capabilities across the national Microscopy Australia network. Applications are accepted on a rolling basis throughout 2026. The scheme also supports flexible access options, including both in-person and remote access.

For researchers

Researchers can apply where the microscopy technique, instrument or expertise required for their project is not available locally. Applications are welcomed from universities, medical research institutes, government agencies, hospitals and philanthropic organisations, with early-career researchers and those based in regional and remote Australia particularly encouraged to apply.

For industry

Industry applicants can seek support for new R&D projects or to explore new microscopy techniques. Applications from start-ups, spin-outs and small-to-medium enterprises are particularly encouraged.
