Microscopy data transfer made easy

17 Jul 2024 2:00pm - 3:00pm AEST Zoom – register for the link below

Transferring data from a microscope to a workstation, or sharing data with collaborators, can be tedious, slow and frustrating.

How often have you had to restart a file transfer because you lost connection? Have you ever wondered why, thanks to your fast internet at home you can stream movies in UltraHD smoothly, but you can’t transfer your data at a speed faster than 10 Mb/s? There are tools beyond FileZilla, CuteFTP, CyberDuck, RClone, WinSCP and rsync that allow for fast data transfer. In particular, Globus is reliable, secure and fast. Thanks to Globus, connection loss will be a thing of the past whenever you want to transfer or share data, however far you want to send your data to.

In this webinar, the services and the advantages offered by Globus will be presented by specialists from AARNet with a focus on specific practical questions: How can you access Globus? What do you need to change in the settings of your computer or your network? Who can assist you in setting up Globus? How can you monitor the health of your network?

Scientists and microscopy facilities that use Globus will highlight how Globus has been integrated into their operations and enabled them to transfer and share data efficiently.

Come along and learn how to make microscopy data transfer easy and convenient for you.

Speakers: Greg D’Arcy, Chris Myers, Sara King, Ryan Fraser and Alex Ip, from AARNet (Australia’s Academic and Research Network)
