International Atomic Energy Agency visit our UWA facility

Officials from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), the Australia Safeguards and Non-Proliferation Office (ASNO) and the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade (DFAT), recently visited our facility at the University of Western Australia (UWA).

This UWA facility is the only university-based lab in the world to be one of the IAEA’s Network of Analytical Laboratories, performing safeguards analysis on environmental samples from locations around the globe. During the visit, the delegation saw the unique capabilities of the facility and how they are used to support both current and new types of analyses of interest to IAEA. The delegates from both the IAEA and ASNO/DFAT were greatly impressed by the capabilities and work of our facility and were keen to build on these existing relationships into the future.
