problem solving & innovation
Our scientists work in Australia’s top research labs, with world-class instruments and specialised environments, such as PC4 and cleanrooms. Solve problems with our testing services and R&D.
At our facilities around Australia we provide imaging and analytical solutions for R&D, QA, failure analysis, patent support, non-destructive analysis, and persuasive promotional images.
Microscopy Australia also offers an industry voucher scheme for subsidised access, see ‘Industry Subsidy Scheme’ below for more details.

You can trust our experts to get accurate results from your samples. Fee-for-service is usually based on a standard contract with the host institution. Simple testing services can usually be scheduled within two weeks and urgent jobs can usually be accommodated.
Contract R&D addresses more complex research challenges. The industry partner funds the research project including instrument fees, consumables and salaries for research staff. Intellectual property rights are negotiable as part of the contractual agreement. Take advantage of our expertise to solve your problems.
We offer training so your staff can get great results on our instruments, or on yours. Microscopy and microanalysis training can be tailored to the needs of your business. Once the required level of competency is reached, instrument use is charged at a competitive hourly rate. See our Pricing & Policies for more details.
World-leading free online training modules with instrument simulators are available for a range of microscopy techniques.
Our online technique finder helps you discover the most appropriate technique for your research question and shows you where to find it.
From start-ups to multinationals, hundreds of industry clients have used Microscopy Australia to solve their problems. You can find news stories featuring some of these clients here:

Linkage Projects are a grant program run by the ARC. It aims to create long-term research alliances between researchers in academia and industry to solve scientific and technological problems for the economic, social and/or cultural benefit of Australia. The ARC accepts Linkage Project applications from eligible higher education institutions, and then allocates funding on a competitive basis; funding levels range from AUD$50,000 up to AUD$300,000 per annum (p.a.) for up to 5 years. Where an extremely high level of commitment is made by the industry partner, the ARC may consider funding levels of up to AUD$2,000,000 p.a. For more information download our Advice to Applicants for ARC and NHMRC Grants PDF.
If your industry or project is not eligible for a Linkage Program, you can check the relevant Government websites to see if there’s a suitable subsidy: https://www.business.gov.au/assistance/search
While we only advise on the government grants listed above, we’re always happy to help you. Contact one of our Industry team.
